It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Lights, snow, family and parties are just a few of the things to be excited about. One of the important questions to answer is what to wear. Jewel toned velvets have been making a comeback this fall season. Continue the trend into the holiday season and incorporate velvet into your holiday outfit.

I choose a long red velvet skirt to be the centerpiece of the outfit. To keep with the Christmas color theme I added silver heals and green ornament earrings. I choose a shirt with a lower back to balance out the long skirt and sleeves.

If you don’t have festive earrings try making some like I did! You can pick up earring backs and small round ornaments at a craft store. Thread the ornament through the earring back and wrap to ensure it lasts the whole evening.

New Years Eve

Sparkles and black dresses are New Years Eve staples. I typically go for the latter, however, I decided to try something new this year. Using a fun pattern, accent color or choosing an outfit that has an interesting neckline can spice up your New Years look. Paring the darker colored dress with fun colored tights can have you stand out this New Years just as much as if your wore sparkles.

Green Flannel & Black Skirt

Flannel has definitely been making a come back these past few years. I recently gave into the trend and bought a green plaid collared shirt. Just my luck this purchase has already paid off. I have been able to wear it to seasonal gatherings at work or with friends. Pairing it with a skirt makes the top just fancy enough to wear to a holiday party.

Winter White

White is a classic winter color and wearing a white sweater to a holiday party is even more so! The color allows you highlight other areas of your outfit. One can wear fun heals or holiday themed earrings (like my ornament earrings above!). You can be your own canvas.

Holiday Wish List

Has anyone else been super busy getting into the holiday season?! As soon as I got over my turkey coma the tree was decorated and the lights were up! With so much to do I wanted to share some of my must-have items for those who need some last minute gift ideas.

Maroon is a perfect color for getting into the holiday spirit. It say’s “I’m festive!” without having to commit to the bright holiday colors.

Accessories are always a great way to spice up an outfit. Pair a chunky one with a high neck to add some texture. A longer delicate necklace can be paired with an outfit that has a deeper neckline.

The turtle neck dress and the boots allow you to stay stylish and warm as the colder weather approaches. I currently own those boots and am so satisfied with the quality, while the dress has been on my wish list for a while (hint hint!).

Check out the blog next week for holiday party outfit ideas. I’ll keep them coming all month long!
