Between the scorching hot summer and snow-covered winters is the perfect temperature to wear a leather jacket. This jacket has the ability to set the tone for an outfit. In this specific example the casual shirt, jeans, boot and scarf are elevated to a level just above casual. So I guess we could call this casual fancy. The jacket also acts as a layer, ensuring that the wearer is content in any type of weather. So get yourself a nice leather jacket, pair it with comfortable T-shirt, Jeans and boot and enjoy this perfect time of year.

Dusty pink and bright yellow are one of the many trends sweeping the fall runway. This is not a color combination I would typically gravitate towards, even in the warmer seasons. In order to challenge myself I decided to give it a try. Paired above is a yellow long sleeve with a turtleneck sleeveless dress. Share your thoughts on this outfit in the comments below!

Mixing Patterns

Mixing patterns can take time to master. Before working up to plaids with polka dots try to start with the basics. One example of a great beginner outfit is a striped top or bottom paired with a large floral pattern. Stripes are a classic pattern and this large floral pattern is spaced out enough so the two do not create a cluttered look.

Pumpkin is not just for latte’s this season. This rustic orange color is perfect for the changing of leaves, and colder weather. This specific example is a long sleeve shirt from H&M, however, skirts, jackets, lipstick or accessories are all a perfect canvases for the pumpkin color.

Nothing screams comfort and warmth like fur accessories. Faux fur is in for the fall season. I recently picked up a similar number and it is perfect! The fur also helps to spice up your typical fall accessories. Headbands, earmuffs and gloves are great ways to add a little fur to a fall outfit.

Fall doesn’t immediately produce thoughts of floral patterns, typically that is for spring. However, floral fabrics are big this fall! This new trend is already taken hold of many stores and is present in fall lines.

Everyone needs a power outfit. It is what you put on when you mean business and want everyone else to be ready for what you are about to bring to the table. This is one of those ensembles for me. The pants and shoes alone are a great statement, however, with the accompaniment of a bold belt and top means that this outfit is everything a power outfit is made of.

Halloween

DSC_0439  DSC_0447 DSC_0464 DSC_0466 DSC_0471 DSC_0475 DSC_0478

Halloween is a time of year when everyone gets to be something/someone else for a day (or more depending on how many Halloween parties you are invited to). I always try to spread the holiday out over as many weeks as I can however, and love to find different ways to show some Halloween spirit!

I used Sally Hansen nail art pen to adorn my nails with some classic Halloween imagery, Frankenstein, spiders and, webs. Those little lines become less intimidating than it would be with a brush. The spider in my hair is from Michael’s. You can glue the bottom of it to a hair elastic or clip it in with bobby pins (as I did). Last but not least, the make up! Witches always come to mind this time of year, so green eyes and poison apple red lips inspired this look.

Adding some life to your nails, wearing fun make up, and throwing some flair in that hair are all subtle ways to say “Halloween is my fav!”. Take these ideas and make them your own, by adding different Halloween portraits to your nails or picking a different character for your up do. I think next time I’m painting them white and adding ghosts on them! – Feel free to steal that though…

Purple Sweater & Print Scarf

DSC_0530DSC_0566 DSC_0540DSC_0571

The fall color palette  inspired this week’s look. I have been all about autumn in this past month; eating apple pie, buying pumpkins, basically anything that screams fall. The brown shoes, purple shirt and orange print scarf create an outfit that can easily transition from day to night. The tiny bit of midriff showing allows a little fun to be added at a time of year when most everyone is covering up as much as possible.
