Pom Pom’s, winter warmth, blended wool and vogue are a few words to describe The Cove. This New England based business churns out handmade knitwear using a variety of wool.

Kelly, Founder of The Cove, typically crochet’s with an acrylic wool blend. She let me know that this specific wool is marvelously versatile, easy to care for and not to mention soft to the touch. Some of my favorite pieces are the Pom Pom hats with matching scarves and fingerless mittens. If you are looking for something a bit more luxe, she also makes knit hats with Peruvian wool which are topped with a fluffy pom pom.

Full disclosure, Kelly, Founder and CEO of The Cove, is one of my best friends so I may be a bit biased in regards to her products. Feel free to check out her stuff and make up your mind for yourself! Follow her on Instagram @TheCove_NH or contact her on

Spring Stripes

Stripes are making a comeback this spring season in a big and bold way. From larger stripes to red and yellow colors according to most fashion websites this is one of the trends this year. I decided to give it a try! This beautiful red and white button up plays with the size of the strips it has a tie off to the side, which you can wear up in a bow or down. This outfit can be worn out on the town or to spice up your work attire. Overall, I am feeling this new trend!

Yellow and Dusty Pink

Dusty pink and bright yellow are one of the many trends sweeping the fall runway. This is not a color combination I would typically gravitate towards, even in the warmer seasons. In order to challenge myself I decided to give it a try. Paired above is a yellow long sleeve with a turtleneck sleeveless dress. Share your thoughts on this outfit in the comments below!

Runway Makeup

Runway makeup is amazingly beautiful. How the makeup is applied brings the outfit to another level and contributes to the message the designer is presenting to the audience. Most of the time this type of makeup stays on the runway and magazines. Below are some examples of how this makeup can be translated into everyday fashion.

Many times the runway make up is applied to more than just the eyelid. Brightly colored eyeliner is a perfect way to control the application of the color. The eyeliner can be used to create designs, such as a small cateye, that will help to embody the runway feel without leaving your eyelid.

Gold is always a fun color to play with! This particular color needs to be applied in the right way to ensure that it doesn’t steal the show. Applying the color and using black eyeliner as an accompaniment will balance out the bright sparkles.

This pink color is absolutely beautiful and one that isn’t used that often. Pink can be a harder color to incorporate to everyday where. Try to use a bright pink but applying it sparingly to your eye.

Fall Must Haves

Pumpkin is not just for latte’s this season. This rustic orange color is perfect for the changing of leaves, and colder weather. This specific example is a long sleeve shirt from H&M, however, skirts, jackets, lipstick or accessories are all a perfect canvases for the pumpkin color.

Nothing screams comfort and warmth like fur accessories. Faux fur is in for the fall season. I recently picked up a similar number and it is perfect! The fur also helps to spice up your typical fall accessories. Headbands, earmuffs and gloves are great ways to add a little fur to a fall outfit.

Fall doesn’t immediately produce thoughts of floral patterns, typically that is for spring. However, floral fabrics are big this fall! This new trend is already taken hold of many stores and is present in fall lines.

Summer Hair Style

The hot summer weather has finally hit in New England. Hair is beautiful, unique, and does not help to cool you down during a scorcher. For those of you who have not yet mastered the art of French braiding, or at least the small French braid that everyone seems to uses as a headband, try this twist. Its similar to braiding, however, it is much easier.

Starting at your part, grab a bit of hair and bring it about an inch behind your hairline.

Next, grab the hair that is just underneath it and fold it over the top of the previous section of hair.

Using the two original strands repeat this process of folding over while adding additional hair into the twist as you move towards the back of your head…

…for a half back,

or towards the back of your head for a low bun.

This hair style adds a fun twist and keeps your hair out of your face!
