Upon buying the pink pants in this post I was very interested in trying a monochromatic look. They were so comfortable and the perfect color for summer time. I was not disappointed when it paired perfectly with the shoes and sweater, which I happened to already own! This is a great example of how you can purchase just one item to give new life to some things you may have had in your closet for a while. Now choose a color for your monochromatic look and get creative!

When you need a little pick-meup after the winter season, this is a great goto pattern. This particular floral is a button up which allows the wearer to take it from work to a night out with friends or without needing to change. Couple it with your favorite pair of dress pants, as pictured, or with a comfortable pair of jeans; the world is your oyster!

Spring time offers the perfect weather for a light jacket. Leather provides the impeccable combination of style and warmth to take you into the new fashion season. The reoccurring theme of solid colors in this ensemble ensures that you have a cohesive look. The purple boots not only help shape the feel of the outfit but also add a much needed pop of color to an outfit which is otherwise neutral.

Pom Pom’s, winter warmth, blended wool and vogue are a few words to describe The Cove. This New England based business churns out handmade knitwear using a variety of wool.

Kelly, Founder of The Cove, typically crochet’s with an acrylic wool blend. She let me know that this specific wool is marvelously versatile, easy to care for and not to mention soft to the touch. Some of my favorite pieces are the Pom Pom hats with matching scarves and fingerless mittens. If you are looking for something a bit more luxe, she also makes knit hats with Peruvian wool which are topped with a fluffy pom pom.

Full disclosure, Kelly, Founder and CEO of The Cove, is one of my best friends so I may be a bit biased in regards to her products. Feel free to check out her stuff and make up your mind for yourself! Follow her on Instagram @TheCove_NH or contact her on Kelly.thecove@gmail.com

Between the scorching hot summer and snow-covered winters is the perfect temperature to wear a leather jacket. This jacket has the ability to set the tone for an outfit. In this specific example the casual shirt, jeans, boot and scarf are elevated to a level just above casual. So I guess we could call this casual fancy. The jacket also acts as a layer, ensuring that the wearer is content in any type of weather. So get yourself a nice leather jacket, pair it with comfortable T-shirt, Jeans and boot and enjoy this perfect time of year.

Mixing Styles

By now many are comfortable mixing patterns and likely do it on a daily basis. Another fun way to push the buttons of fashion is to mix styles. This ensemble mixes comfortable casual with business button up. The leather Vans combine a classic fabric with classic colors. Black and white provides a great foundation to be creative with the rest of an outfit. The shoes also set the tone for the more relaxed part of the look. The material of the jean continues with that trend to stretch and give when the wearer moves. The Victorian inspired top brings the touch of elegance to this overall casual outfit with layers of silky fabric. The folds add another dimension allowing the shirt to puff away from the body, adding a wonderful artistic flare. Don’t worry; the top is still loose enough to move.

New Direction

IMG_7815

Dear Readers,

As you may have noticed, I have taken the summer off from regular blog posts. While summer is typically a busy time for all of us, I had other motives for taking some time to myself. Doing so has allowed me to work on projects for other publications and take time to really think about what I want Calla Lynne to be. Fashion is certainly a large part of my life and something I enjoy but it is not the only creative outlet I take pursue.

In order to share all of my passions I will be expanding the content of Calla Lynne. You can expect to see fashion, photography (landscape, portrait, etc.), D.I.Y. projects and more. I hope that you will be able to enjoy the new Calla Lynne blog just as much, if not more, than before!

Warm regards,

K.Scott
